2012 - Tony Schmidt Park

Submitted by ares on
2012 Clues

So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.

Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.

I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

What about the period at the end of 'dog'? 'Should you' or 'you should' makes a difference, too...

I think this clue is giving us the park but telling us to behave as the romans would in rome.. meaning...ok you're in the park now..behave like responsible people and abide by the treasure hunt rules.

I will be waiting till morning to see the unscrambled clue just to be sure what there is here is correct. On the PiPress site, a few of these words are combined with others. Typos or on purpose?

This game me a headache - or maybe the headache came from lack of sleep.

Goodnight and SCDs!

origin of the saying do as romans do:

"The Story behind It: When St. Augustine arrived in Milan, he observed that the Church did not fast on Saturday as did the Church at Rome. He consulted St. Ambrose, bishop of Milan, who replied: "When I am at Rome, I fast on a Saturday; when I am at Milan, I do not. Follow the custom of the Church where you are." The comment was changed to "When they are at Rome, they do there as they see done" by Robert Burton in his Anatomy of Melancholy. Eventually it became "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."

The quote "When in Rome..." is attributed to St Ambrose. St Ambrose Church is in Woodbury, but it used to be on the East Side right near Swede Hallow before it "moved."

its you should do. evildoer's idea to line the words up makes sense, because if you do, the first word from one column is in the same row as the last word from the previous column (and you ends up next to rome).

the says is which in should	roman
woof brook and make book exactly as
says the here to when do a
dog. babble wisdom on rome you should do

as far as I know there's no brook in that park. I grew up over there and have spent many many hours in what used to be known as "Devils Hill" before they turned it into a dog park and ball field... so unless it's something man made.. there was never any water there...

I'll defer to you on this as I don't know the area well. I'm relying on sketchy conclusions I'm drawing from "The Street Where you Live" which by the way has interesting tid bit's on "Brooks" in St Paul.

mystical_muzik

lol it's ok  Just thought I'd share that tidbit. In fact.. there's a trail that goes up the hill into the woods..and unless they've changed the whole landscape around in there... there should still be bike jumps. I learned how to do crazy bike tricks up in there! LMAO
